Lydia Hüskens

Lydia Maria Hüskens (born March 26, 1964 in Geldern ) is a German politician ( FDP ). She has been the district chairman of the FDP Magdeburg since 2009 and deputy state chairwoman of the FDP Saxony-Anhalt since 2011 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Geldern in 1983, Hüskens studied history, political science and journalism in Münster and was there in 1990 with a dissertation on the subject of associations and politics. Political associations exemplarily examined for the district of Geldern in the years of the founding of the Reich and during the Kulturkampf for Dr. phil. PhD . She then worked as a PR consultant in Mülheim an der Ruhr from 1990 to 1992 . Between 1992 and 2002, Hüskens worked as a government employee in the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Saxony-Anhalt . From 2011 to 2014 she worked in the Ministry of Science and Economy of the State of Saxony-Anhalt , and since January 2015 she has been the managing director of the Halle student union. Hüskens is married, has two children and lives in Magdeburg .

Party career

Hüskens joined the FDP in 1989. She has been a member of the district board of the FDP Magdeburg since 1994 and was elected district chairman in March 2009. In addition, Hüskens has been a member of the state board of the FDP Saxony-Anhalt since 2003 and has been the deputy state chairman since April 2011. She is running for the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt on March 13, 2016 in the 10th district (Magdeburg-Nord) and in second place on the FDP state list.

Hüskens is the author of the discussion paper Future of Saxony-Anhalt (2004) and was a member of the policy commission of the FDP Saxony-Anhalt, which presented a new policy program for the Saxony-Anhalt state association in April 2008 under the title Zukunftsland Sachsen-Anhalt . In 2010 she was appointed to the principle commission of the FDP federal association, which developed the Karlsruhe theses of freedom , which were adopted at the 63rd Ordinary Federal Party Congress of the FDP on April 22, 2012 in Karlsruhe.

Public offices

Hüskens was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt from 2002 to 2011 . There she was, among other things, parliamentary managing director as well as financial and social policy spokesperson for the FDP parliamentary group. In June 2007, Hüskens was unanimously elected by the FDP Magdeburg as a candidate for the mayoral election in Magdeburg on March 9, 2008. She received 6.2% of the vote in the re-election of the incumbent Lutz Trümper ( SPD ).
