Lydia Birch Hastings (born February 5, 1990 in Dewey Beach , Delaware ) is an American football player.
Life
Hastings was born in 1990 in Dewey Beach , Sussex County , and grew up in Rehoboth Beach , Delaware . She attended Cape Henlope High School in Lewes , Delaware from 2004 to 2008 before studying civil engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park from 2008 to 2011 . Since returning to the US, Hastings has lived and worked for Jolly Trolley in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Career
society
Hastings started her club-level career in Rehoboth Beach with Federal Triangles Soccer Club. During this time she played for the Vikings Women Soccer Team at Cape Henlopen High School between 2003 and 2007, before playing for the Terrapins Women Soccer Team at the University of Maryland from 2008 to 2011 . During her student days, Hastings played for the Atlantic City Diablos in the Women's Premier Soccer League. In the 2010 season Hastings played one season for the futures team of the WUSA club Washington Freedom . A year later she went to Canada to the Ottawa Fury , from which she was awarded to Pali Blues for six months in February 2012. Hastings returned to Canada in the fall of 2012 and was with the Ottawa Fury, champions of the 2012 W-League season, after beating their former team Pali Blues in the final.
Hastings joined Finnish champions PK-35 Vantaa in February 2013 , for whom she played in the UEFA Women's Champions League . Hastings returned to Canada in October 2013 and re-signed with the Ottawa Fury and was voted W-League Player of the Week on June 11, 2014.
On August 18, 2014, Hastings signed with the German Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga promoted Herford SV . In December 2014, the existing contract with Herford SV was terminated and Hastings returned to the USA .
National team
Hastings ran in 2009 together with her fellow student at the University of Maryland and club mate at Ottawa Fury Danielle Hubka , for the US U-20 national team.
