Lysidike (daughter of Pelops)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lysidike ( Greek  Λυσιδίκη , Latin Lysidice ) was the daughter of Pelops and Hippodameia in Greek mythology .

Lysidike was married to Mestor , to whom she gave birth to Hippothoë . According to Pausanias , who contradicts a local tradition during his description of Greece, she was considered by some to be the mother of Amphitryon and must therefore have been the wife of Alkaios , who is otherwise passed down as Astydameia or Laonome . Plutarch calls her the mother of Alcmene , after which she would have been the wife of Elektryon . Even Hesiod says Lysidike was married to Electryon and thus the mother of Alcmene, Perilaos, Nomios, Epilaos, Gorgophonos, Eurybios, Amphimachus, Kelaineus, Strato Bates, Lysinomos, Cheiromachos, Anaktor and Archelaos is. An inscription mentions her as one of Theseus' companions on his way back from Crete . However, the allocation is controversial.
