Mànran are a Scottish folk band formed in 2010. The name is Scottish Gaelic and means "melody".

Band history

Mànran have performed at major folk festivals around the world since 2010. The musical breakthrough began with the first single Latha Math ( Scottish Gaelic : "A good day"), which was released on January 17, 2011. It almost reached the top 40 and number 6 in the UK Indie Charts and the Scottish Singles Charts.

In July of the same year, the debut album Manran was released . In August 2012, the band brought out the single Take You There with Michelle McManus , with which they wanted to raise money for children in need for the STV Appeal 2012. Mànran and McManus sang the song live on September 7, 2012 on the STV Appeal Show. On the occasion of the Olympic Games in London 2012, Mànran were invited to a special concert.

The band first performed in the United States in the fall of 2013. She was awarded with prizes. In 2014 Norrie released his first solo album Danns An Rathaid (street dance) under his own label and announced that he would leave the band in the coming year to devote himself to his solo career. He played his last gig with the band at the Barrowland Ballroom on December 5th, 2015.

In 2016 the group was on tour in Denmark and Australia. The latest single is called "Trod".
