Márcio Orlando Seligmann-Silva (* 1964 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian literary scholar , literary theorist, author, translator and university professor.

Life

Seligmann-Silva has a degree in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo {PUC-SP} and a Masters in German Literature of the University of São Paulo (USP), and a doctorate in literary theory and comparative literature ( Comparative Literature ) from the outdoors University of Berlin in 1996. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Literary and Cultural Research Berlin (ZfL) (2002) and a postdoctoral fellow at the German Institute of Yale University (2005). He received his license to teach at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), where he holds a titular professorship in literary theory .

He was visiting professor at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Warwick in Great Britain. He is a researcher (Letras e Lingüística) of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq).

Act

Seligmann-Silva made a special contribution to teaching the world of ideas of Walter Benjamin , Jürgen Habermas and Theodor W. Adorno in Brazil. He states (interview, 2013) the lack of a separate Brazilian culture of remembrance of the trauma caused by the military dictatorship; the artistic and literary processing are rather exceptional.

  • 2000 Prêmio Mario de Andrade de Ensaio Literário for the work Ler o Livro do Mundo, 1999.
  • 2006 Prêmio Jabuti, Best Book in Literary Theory and Criticism category for O Local da Diferença.
