Mária Gulácsy-Jármy (born April 27, 1941 in Beregszász , † April 13, 2015 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian foil fencer .

Life

Mária Gulácsy's family moved to Budapest after their native Beregszász became part of the Soviet Union in early 1946 . She started fencing in 1957 and was part of the national team from 1962 to 1968. Gulácsy was world champion with the team in Buenos Aires in 1962 and in Montreal in 1967 . She also achieved second place with her in 1966 in Moscow . At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , she reached the final with the Hungarian team against the Soviet Union, which she was defeated 3: 9. Together with Lídia Dömölky-Sákovics , Ildikó Bóbis , Paula Marosi and Ildikó Ujlakiné-Rejtő , she won the silver medal. In 1972 she ended her career.

Until her retirement in 1996 she worked as a grammar teacher in Budapest.
