Maria Rohonczi

Mária Rohonczi (born December 17, 1923 , † July 11, 1995 ) was a Hungarian athlete and basketball player .

At the European Athletics Championships in Oslo in 1946 , she was fifth in the javelin throw. In 1947 she won bronze in the high jump and javelin throw at the International University Games . Another bronze medal in the javelin throw followed at the World Festival of Youth and Students in 1949.

She was five times Hungarian champion in high jump (1944-1946, 1948, 1951), three times in pentathlon (1944, 1946, 1949) and twice over 80 m hurdles (1946, 1947) as well as in javelin throw (1948, 1949).

As a member of the Hungarian team, she won bronze in the women's basketball championship in 1952 .
