Mårten Sandén (born August 22, 1962 ) is a Swedish author . He lives in Lund and writes books for children and young people, including “Mias Glück” and the crime novels about the Petrini twins. In 2015 Sandén was awarded the Swedish Astrid Lindgren Prize .

The Petrini crime novels

General

The books are about twelve-year-old twins Peter and Petra Petrini, who are moving from New York to Lund in Sweden with their parents, Swedish father David and New York mother Leah. The family also consists of 6-year-old Juliet, 16-year-old Ricky, 18-year-old Rebecka and the older Max, who no longer lives at home and works for the UN . Rebecka takes care of the family as her mother is very busy as an artist. The family also includes aunt Lili and Lucy, a friend of the twins who comes from Vancouver , Canada . The twins and Lucy call themselves Hemliga Ögat ( The Secret Eye ) and experience many adventures. They catch a drug dealer, find a gold owl or discover an unknown Picasso. The Petrinideckarna books have not yet been translated into German.

  • Gömstället. ("The Hiding Place"), 1999: This book is about twins who catch the "most dangerous man in Sweden".
  • Juveltjuven ("The Jewel Thief "), 2000: The second book is about the twins and a former jewel thief.
  • Arvtagaren (“Der Erbe”), 2001: Arvtagaren is about a theater-loving man who inherits a multi-billion dollar factory.
  • Gengångaren. ("The Revenant"), 2002: Gengångaren is about the dead silent film director Charles Alfred Pearce, who filmed Moby Dick and the silent film itself. (CAPearce did not make a film of Moby Dick.)
  • Spökskeppet. ("The Ghost Ship"), 2003: The fifth book by Mårten Sandén is about the twins who, together with their friend Lucy, suddenly see a catamaran appear on a foggy night in Österlen . Cigarette smuggling!
  • Skatan. (“Die Elster”), 2004: A woman who has apparently been dead for 40 years and who turns three apartments upside down? The twins have to investigate.
  • Tvillingarna. ("The Twins"), 2005: The twins and Lucy travel to Stockholm and spend their holidays there. But then suddenly twins appear everywhere and an unknown Picasso is stolen ...
