Méditerranée department

Méditerranée is a former department of the French Empire. It was built on May 24, 1808 in the wake of the annexation of the Kingdom of Etruria . The capital was Livorno , with the arrondissements of Livorno, Volterra and Pisa . In 1811 Elba was added as the Arrondissement Portoferraio . The mainland part went to Tuscany in 1814 , the island of Elba to the ex-Emperor Napoléon according to the Treaty of Fontainebleau .
