Mörk Gryning ( Swedish for dark dawn ) is a Swedish black metal band that was founded in 1993 by Jonas Berndt (under the pseudonym Goth Gorgon) and Peter Nagy (pseudonym: Draakh Kimera). With this line-up, the band recorded their first album Tusen år har gått (in German: a thousand years have passed ) in 1995 for the Swedish label No Fashion Records . With this concept album (the lyrics describe a continuous story), Mörk Gryning produced typical Swedish Black Metal, which has often been compared to bands like Dark Funeral and Dissection . It was only with Pieces Of Primal Expressionism , published in 2003 , that Mörk Gryning deviated from conventional Black Metal and experimented with the increased use of electronic sounds and non-metal instruments such as violin , trombone and mellotron .
In November 2003, Peter Nagy left the band because, according to his own statements, he no longer had the creativity to continue the development of the band. In January 2005 Jonas Berndt announced the breakup of Mörk Gryning on the grounds that he had lost interest in Black Metal. However, by this time the band had already finished some new tracks, which were released on the last album Mörk Gryning (released on Black Lodge Records) at the end of 2005 . At the end of March 2016, the band announced the concert as part of the Thuringian festival Party.San Open Air .
