Müggenburg was a Vorwerk west of Grabow , a residential area of the Roskow municipality in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district (Brandenburg). The Vorwerk (also called sheep farm) is first mentioned in 1536; at that time it belonged to the cathedral chapter in Brandenburg an der Havel . In the Thirty Years' War destroyed, it was rebuilt. In the 19th century the Vorwerk was closed, the last building was demolished in 1894.

location

The Vorwerk Müggenburg was 1.5 km west-southwest of Grabow and approx. 2.5 km northeast of Mötzow ( Beetzseeheide municipality ). No remains have survived above ground. In the aerial photo, the spot can still be seen as a darker spot.

The area of the abandoned Vorwerk is now part of the district of Lünow , a district of the Roskow community.

history

Müggenburg already existed in 1536/38 or was built up in these years, in contrast to the information in the historical local dictionary for Brandenburg (there 1569). In the archives of the cathedral monastery there are invoices for expenses for the new Meierhaus with 7 containers in Müggenburg from the years 1536 to 1538.

It was subsequently referred to as Vorwerk or also as a sheep farm. The owner was the cathedral monastery in Brandenburg an der Havel. Günter Mangelsdorf thinks it is unlikely that the Vorwerk was the rest of a village or was rebuilt on a village desert.

In 1569 there were 53 cows and cattle, 9 horses and 7 pigs. The Vorwerk was destroyed in the Thirty Years War. In 1656 it was completely deserted. The fields were covered with bushes. In normal times , 2 wispel rye seed, 1 wispel 12 metz barley seed and 12 bushels of oat seed were sown on the fields . The Vorwerk had to be rebuilt in the following years or decades. In 1745 Müggenburg was again used as a dairy farm. In 1801 the Vorwerk consisted of a residential building with 25 residents (six granny families). In 1817 there were still 18 residents. Müggenburg no longer appears in the topographical-statistical survey of the government district of Potsdam and the city of Berlin from 1841. The barn was the last building to be demolished in 1894. The area was added to the Grabow district.
