The Mühle Münkeboe (also called Fleetjers Mühle ) is a gallery Dutchman in the Münkeboe district of southern Brookmerland . The mill was built in 1854 and has been owned by the Fleetjer family since 1910. Today it is part of the Münkeboe Dorp Museum . The technology is available and functional, an interior tour is possible.

history

Plans to build a mill in the village had existed since 1825, when bog colonists initially unsuccessfully sought a license. In 1852 construction was finally approved, which began the following year and was completed in 1854. In 1910 the mill became the property of the Fleetjer family, who are still the owners today. The mill began to decline in the 1950s. Squalls destroyed the first wing in autumn and the last wing was so badly damaged by the wind in 1956 that it could no longer be repaired. As a result, the gallery was demolished in 1962 and the mill continued to operate with an engine until its final shutdown in 1977. The building itself then only served as a granary and store for concentrated feed and fertilizer.

In 1980 there were plans to demolish the mill stump in order to build a functional building on the same site. As a result, the “Association for the Preservation of the Windmill in Münkeboe” was founded in June 1980, which then started the restoration. The miller agreed to make the mill available to the association. As part of this work, the octagon, which was previously covered with wood and roofing felt, was covered with Reith in 1982 . In 1985 the windmill received a new gallery made of bongossi wood and a new cap. A new grinder was finally installed in 1986.
