Georg Hirschbrich (born September 16, 1939 in Guhrau , Lower Silesia , † January 23, 2012 in Würzburg ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and dean . In 2001 he created the Cardinal Döpfner Museum in the former Hausen Monastery .

Life

After the expulsion in 1945 , Hirschbrich first grew up in Sonneberg ( Thuringia ). While the mother and two brothers still remained in Sonneberg, Hirsch Break in 1950 on the recommendation of his Sonneberger pastor Wilhelm Zirkelbach , in which Hirsch Brich altar boy , was the age of eleven to Würzburg to the Episcopal minor seminary Kilianeum sent. Until the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, he regularly visited his family in Thuringia during the holidays.

After graduating from high school in 1959, Hirschbrich studied Catholic theology at the Universities of Würzburg and Munich . On 29 June 1965 he was awarded in Bad Kissingen by Bishop Josef Stangl , the ordination . Then he was chaplain in Kitzingen , the St.Nikolaus-Kirche in Goldbach and the Christkönig-Kirche in Schweinfurt-Bergl .

In the 35 years from 1974 to 2009 Hirschbrich worked as pastor of the Holy Cross Church in the Bad Kissingen district of Hausen , the birthplace of Cardinal Julius Döpfner , with simultaneous responsibility for the neighboring district of Kleinbrach . From 1975 to 2005 he was also president of liturgy and church music for the dean's office in Bad Kissingen. From 1979 to 1981 he also looked after the parish of Steinach (district of Bad Bocklet ) on the Franconian Saale . Since 1985 he has also been a part-time course chaplain in the Bavarian state spa in Bad Kissingen. From 1990 to 2000 Hirschbrich was deputy dean , from 2000 to 2005 dean of the dean's office in Bad Kissingen. In 2002 he was also pastor and parish administrator of Rottershausen , and at times also of Bad Bocklet.

On the 25th anniversary of Julius Döpfner's death (July 24, 2001), Hirschbrich created the small Cardinal Döpfner Museum in the former Hausen monastery as a memorial to the well-known cardinal. In 2002 he was accepted as a knight in the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem , and later he became Commander .

On October 1, 2009, Hirschbrich went into permanent retirement as a pastor. At the same time he received a pastoral care assignment for the " Parish Community Immanuel Oerlenbach " with the parishes of Alle Heiligen in Ebenhausen , St. Martin in Eltingshausen and St. Burkard in Oerlenbach with the Rottershausen branch and for church services in the clinics in the Bad Kissingen area.

Since 1979, Hirschbrich has organized numerous trips to the Holy Land as a spiritual tour guide for the Diocese of Würzburg , but also to India , China , Mexico and the USA . He also led pilgrimages to the major pilgrimage sites in Europe . As an active member of the Hausen volunteer fire brigade , he earned the golden badge of achievement .

Hirsch Brich died on 23 January 2012 at the age of 72 years in the University Hospital of Würzburg to cancer . He was buried on January 27th in the Hausen cemetery.
