Münkeboe [ mʏnkəˈboː ] has been part of the municipality of Südbrookmerland in the district of Aurich in East Frisia since the municipal reform of July 1, 1972 . Münkeboe had about 1800 inhabitants in 2005. The mayor is Tammo Keck (CDU).
Attractions
In Münkeboer Dörpmuseum the rural population to be issued since 1990 old craftsmanship and attachments. The museum includes, among other things, a functioning windmill , a fully equipped wheelwright, blacksmith's shop, carpentry, pottery, bakery, classroom and grocery store. These facilities are busy at certain times. The museum is also available in a mobile version that can be used anywhere.
Regular events
Once a year on the occasion of the Münkeboer Festtage, a parade with several wagons rolls through the old moor colonist village. This also includes a classic car meeting with 600 old cars, motorcycles and tractors. This event is also important for tourism.
Churches and religious communities
In Münkeboe there is an Evangelical Lutheran parish around the Church of the Good Shepherd . The parish was formed in 1896 from the colonies of Münkeboe and Moorhusen and, with the establishment of its own parish office, it was released from its previous connection with the parish of Engerhafe.
Members of the Evangelical Free Church Community are looked after by the community in neighboring Moorhusen . The church responsible for the few Catholics is in Aurich .
