The mill route is a circular cycle path in the Lower Saxon district of Ammerland , which gives the visitor a glimpse into the past of this cultural landscape . Until the middle of the 20th century, water and windmills left their mark on the landscape. The change in agriculture as well as the changed supply and use of energy have led to the disappearance of these striking buildings. Thanks to intensive efforts by the local authorities, numerous well-preserved or restored witnesses of the past can now be seen along this path. The path begins in Bad Zwischenahn and leads into the western Ammerland to Apen . There it turns to the south of the district and leads back over a large arch and the landscape window "Mühlen" in the Westerscheps district of the Edewecht community .
