The water route is a 45-kilometer circular cycle path that opens up the water-rich western part of the Ammerland . Here the Ammerländer Geest merges into the fen landscape of East Frisia . Even today you can visit numerous hydraulic structures such as pumping stations , river dikes and fen canals , which were once of much greater importance for the economy and traffic.

The route touches the "Water" landscape window in the Tange district in Apen .
