In 1948, Johann Müller and his wife Hanna, who came from the Akkermann family of bakers, founded the Müller craft bakery in Gristede near Bad Zwischenahn . Due to the growing demand, conversions were made to enlarge and modernize the bakery in 1954, 1956/57 and 1962.

The logo lettering, which is still used today, was created by Edda Egerer. The family of the baker Thümler in Obenstrohe originating studied business administration Wilfried Egerer was also active in the operation.

The son of the Egerer couple, Jan-Christoph Egerer (who also studied business administration), set the condition for the continuation of the family business to expand the company with new locations. In 1994 Müller & Egerer moved to the currently new industrial park in Leuchtenburg near Rastede. Since 1995, the company has expanded by establishing branches in Oldenburg , Wilhelmshaven and in Ammerland . The bakery has also been represented in Bremen since 2011 .
