M-Pire of Evil (often also spelled M: Pire of Evil or Mpire of Evil ) is an English thrash metal band from Newcastle upon Tyne , which was founded in 2010 under the name Prime Evil .

history

After guitarist Jeffrey "Mantas" Dunn and drummer Anton "Antton" Lant had previously been active at Venom , they both got in touch again in 2010 after Lant joined Dunn's band Dryll as a drummer. Shortly afterwards they both decided to start a new band project. With the addition of bassist and singer Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan, who had also previously worked with both of them at Venom, the line-up was completed. Fans chose a name for this project, which ended up being Prime Evil, named after the Venom album of the same name that featured Dunn and Dolan. However, since there was already a band with the same name, the name was changed to M-Pire of Evil. The EP Creatures of the Black followed at the end of 2011, followed by the debut album Hell to the Holy at the beginning of 2012 . Before the band went on tour, Lant left the band and was replaced by Marc "JXN" Jackson. This was followed by a tour of North America . In 2013 the album Crucified and the single Demone / Taking It All were released . In 2014 the band released their first live album, on which the group can be heard at a concert in France , as well as the split release Double Jeopardy , which contained a re-recorded version of the Venom song Manitou . The Italian Francesco Frullo La Rosa was the drummer at concerts in Europe and Asia .

The last concert for the time being was given by M-Pire of Evil on October 3rd, 2015 in Fismes, France . Currently (2017) the band members Dunn and Dolan along with former Venom drummer Anthony "Abaddon" Bray under the names Venom Inc. active.

style

According to Matt Reifschneider from metal-observer.com , the band plays raw Thrash Metal on Crucified . However, apart from the last two songs, the album only consists of Venom cover versions, so that the album can almost be seen as a best-of album. Robert Müller described the music on the album as Thrash Metal of the early 1990s with slight punk influences.
