The MEAG Munich Ergo Asset Management GmbH (proper spelling MEAG MUNICH ERGO Asset Management ) is the asset manager of Munich Re and the ERGO Group . In addition to managing the Group's own funds, it also relies on business with partners outside the Munich Re Group. Its head office is in Munich , further locations in Germany are in Düsseldorf and Hamburg . MEAG has an international presence with management units in New York and Hong Kong . In 2016, MEAG was the fourth largest German asset manager after Allianz SE , Deutsche Bank and DZ Bank . With assets under management of around 278 billion euros, it was one of the most important asset management companies in Europe at the end of September 2019. It manages all major asset classes , with a focus on bonds . MEAG also manages public funds for private investors in its capital investment company .

At the end of 2008, MEAG's analysis and reporting platform was modified and expanded. This redesign was carried out in cooperation with S&T .
