The MTS Althaldensleben is the administration and school building of a former machine-tractor station in the Althaldensleben district of the city of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt . The property is located on Hundisburger Strasse (45a) at the corner of Gräwigstrasse . As a building certificate from the 1950s, it is socially and historically linked to the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone and its consequences.

history

On February 25, 1946, the Soviet occupying power ordered 162 to set up a machine yard in Althaldensleben (then known as Haldensleben II ) to support the land reform. On April 22, 1946, the machine station was set up in the former cloister courtyard . In November 1948 the station was renamed MAS - machine rental station. From December 1949 the station was equipped with tractors from GDR production. Due to a lack of space, a new building was built on Hundisburger Strasse , which the company moved into in 1954 (as the MTS machine tractor station ). The MTS had six brigades that had to do the mechanical work necessary for agriculture.

Since September 1, 1956, apprentices to become agricultural machinery and tractor fitters have been trained here. A high school diploma could also be obtained later. On April 1st, the MTS was renamed RTS - Repair Technology Station ; since August of the same year it has acted as a KfL district company for agricultural technology . The focus was on repairing broaching and collecting presses as well as spraying and dusting devices.

architecture

The two-storey building with a gable roof and twelve window axes , standing on a rectangular floor plan, looks like a stately manor house and seems to be integrated into the Althaldensleben-Hundisburg landscape park . The impression is created by the inclusion of classicist shapes in the exterior design. Besides Streifenrustika, pilasters and beams accented is a lunette and an ornamental balcony in as acting gable designed Ostgiebel. This gable side shows graffiti decorations (peasant couple at harvest, peasant couple with tractor). There is also an approximately 3 meter long inscription "MTS Haldensleben II". On the east side there is a small, single-storey extension with four window axes. As a functional building, the property shows a remarkable architectural quality.

Monument protection

In the local register of monuments , the building is registered as a monument under registration number 094 84414 . For Althaldensleben it is considered to be remarkable from a social and historical point of view and to shape the streetscape.
