Maël Tyrode (born July 31, 2000 in Pontarlier ) is a French Nordic combined skier .

Career

Tyrode, who starts for SC Les Fourgs , made his international debut at the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2014 in Gérardmer . In the following years he competed regularly in the Alpine Cup and other youth events. He won his first medal at the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2016 in Tarvisio and Villach when he finished third together with Edgar Vallet , Titouan Suisse and Théo Rochat . He celebrated his greatest success at junior level at the 2017 Junior World Ski Championships in Park City , where he won the silver medal behind the Austrian team together with Lilian Vaxelaire , Laurent Muhlethaler and Théo Rochat .

He made his debut in the Continental Cup in the 2015/16 season on March 6, 2016 in Chaux-Neuve . In the competition based on the Gundersen method on La Côté Feuillée and over 10 kilometers, however, Tyrode clearly missed the points. He achieved this for the first time in February 2019 at the Continental Cup competition in Eisenerz .

In the summer of 2019, Tyrode started in the Grand Prix for the first time . He was able to score his first seven points at the Gundersen competition in Tschagguns . In the overall ranking he finished 64th.
