Lilian Vaxelaire (born February 4, 1998 in Nancy ) is a former French Nordic combined skier .

Career

Vaxelaire, who competes for SC Xonrupt , made his international debut on January 11, 2014 as part of the Alpine Cup in Predazzo . Two months later, he took part in the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2014 in Gérardmer , where he won the bronze medal with the team with his teammate Laurent Muhlethaler . In the following years, Vaxelaire competed regularly in the Alpine Cup and other youth events. He took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2015 , the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2015 , the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games and the Nordic Junior Ski World Championships . He celebrated his greatest success at junior level at the 2017 Junior World Ski Championships in Park City , when he won the silver medal behind the Austrian team together with Laurent Muhlethaler, Maël Tyrode and Théo Rochat .

He made his debut in the Continental Cup in the 2015/16 season on March 5, 2016 in Chaux-Neuve . In the competition according to the Gundersen method on the La Côté Feuillée and over 10 kilometers, he scored his first points as thirtieth. On January 21, 2017, Vaxelaire made his World Cup debut in the same place , but missed the points. He also failed in his first attempts to collect Grand Prix points in summer 2018 .

In the winter of 2018/19 Vaxelaire competed regularly in the Continental Cup , but only achieved a place in the top ten with the team in Eisenerz . In the overall standings, however, he achieved 63rd place, his best result at that time. Summer 2019 was more successful for the Frenchman. At the mass start in Klingenthal , he finished 30th and thus won his first Grand Prix point. This was followed by another ten points in the Gundersen competition in Tschagguns . In the overall standings, he finished 58th.

At the end of March 2020, Vaxelaire announced the end of his career.
