Ma'ale Chever ( Hebrew מַעֲלֵה חֶבֶרor English Ma'ale Hever ) also Pne Chever ( Hebrew פְּנֵי חֶבֶר) is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank . It is located near the village of Bani Na'im ( Hebrew בַּנִי נַעִיםor Arabic بني نعيم) and belongs to the Har Chevron regional government . The settlement, which was founded illegally under international law on January 31, 1982, was named after the nearby Nachal Chever . Assaf Ramon, son of Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon , was killed in 2009 when his F-16 fighter plane crashed near Ma'ale Chever.
