The MacDonald Point is a headland with rocky outcrops in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . On the Hillary Coast , it is on the south side of the mouth of the Darwin Glacier in the Ross Ice Shelf .
The United States Geological Survey mapped them on the basis of their own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from the years 1959 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1966 after the American journalist James H. MacDonald († 2006), who as Member of the flight squadron VX-6 in several campaigns between 1958 and 1961.
