Yves Ngabu (born December 5, 1988 in Roeselare , Belgium ) is a Belgian professional boxer and former EBU European cruiserweight champion .
His parents come from the DR Congo , his father Jean Pierre Mbemba Ngabu played soccer for RSC Anderlecht .
Boxing career
Yves Ngabu won 23 of 27 fights as an amateur and made his professional debut on June 13, 2011 in Belgium. In June 2014 he won the Belgian Championship and in November 2015 the WBC Francophone title .
After 17 victories, on June 4, 2017, he was given the opportunity to take on the vacant EBU European cruiserweight title, which had previously been resigned by the Ukrainian Dmytro Kutscher . His opponent was Tamás Lődi from Hungary. Ngabu won the fight by TKO in the fourth round. He won his first title defense in January 2018 through TKO in the third round against his compatriot Geoffrey Battelo. In February 2019, he also won unanimously on points against the Dane Micki Nielsen .
In his third title defense, on October 26, 2019 in London , he lost to Lawrence Okolie in round 7 through TKO .
