The sixth season of the American action television series MacGyver comprises 21 episodes and was first broadcast in the United States in 1990/91, with the exception of the seventh episode in 1991/92 in Germany.

The youthful, autonomous self-help group Tough Boys, some of which also frequent the Challengers Club, carried out arson attacks in the district in order to drive away the drug dealers. The last attack resulted in an unplanned death. After trying to stop MacGyver from investigating with a dummy bomb, MacGyver discovers, with the help of ex-Marine Hubbard, who works at the Challengers Club, that MacGyver's friend, Policeman Manny, is instructing the Tough Boys. MacGyver and Hubbard cannot completely prevent the Tough Boys from falling into death when they fall into a dealer trap. However, they can then stop Manny from vigilante justice against a dealer.

MacGyver is supposed to search the archives of the executed Nicolae Ceaușescu together with Thornton in Bucharest . Before that happens, however, a former special unit loyal to the dictator strikes. MacGyver is held hostage by Victor, a member of that combat group. Victor is completely indoctrinated and absolutely devoted to his major. MacGyver saves Victor's life when he is bitten by a snake, which Victor doesn't understand at all, since MacGyver is his enemy. As a result, MacGyver can slowly reawaken Victor's feelings and they slowly become friends. In the end, Victor sacrifices himself for his new friend.

A boy sells a gun that a presidential candidate was shot with years ago to a dealer to pay for his drug addiction. Because of their past, an arms dealer is after this revolver, he hires a sports weapon manufacturer to buy it. MacGyver comes between the fronts and is locked in a shipping container with weapons, probably to be "disposed of" at sea. MacGyver manipulates the container so that the door breaks open when it is loaded and the whole load of weapons spills onto the arms dealer and manufacturer. The episode ends with the announcement that no weapons that were used in a crime will be auctioned again from now on.

Student Lisa is accused of having been involved in several break-ins. In fact, she was bottled with alcohol by her older friends and then fell asleep in the house of the break-in. Lisa initially vehemently denies her alcohol problem. When MacGyver asks her parents about Lisa's possible problem, they show no understanding. Lisa is then persuaded by her fake friends to skip school again and instead drive to the beach, where she indulges in alcohol again. The friends then try to break into the house they are robbing her. MacGyver finds her just in time to save her and overwhelm the responsible burglar.

The episode takes place after the fall of the Berlin Wall . MacGyver is commissioned to bring the young lady Maria from East Berlin to America because her grandfather Otto Romburg finally wants to see her again. Years earlier, when the wall was still in place, he had survived the escape while Maria was arrested and placed in an orphanage. Her father was shot while trying to escape. Some former Stasi agents are also interested in Otto, because he has hidden gold for the Stasi that they want back. MacGyver gets caught between the fronts. He overwhelms the agents with utensils from Otto's toy store.

MacGyver says in a lawsuit involving psychopathic killer Dr. Zito wants to obtain his release as a witness. Unsuccessful, Zito promises MacGyver to teach him a lesson in malice before he escapes his custody. He keeps MacGyver and the police busy with a series of confusing and dangerous puzzles. In the meantime Thornton is kidnapped and tied up. This kidnapping serves Zito to help Lt. Murphy, who had arrested him then, into a deadly trap; however, she survived. In the showdown at a former hospital for the mentally ill, MacGyver eventually overpowers Zito and his lawyer Dr. Save Skinner from murder.

MacGyver inherits a blue 1957 Chevrolet Nomad when his grandfather Harry opens his will , which he also drives in the following episodes. However, some shady characters are after the car because it is said to be the hiding place of a piece of jewelry stolen from a jeweler years ago. After a scavenger hunt, MacGyver finds the piece under the spot on the ice rink of the ice hockey arena, where MacGyver played ice hockey as a child. On the ice rink, MacGyver can prevent the crooks from taking the piece of jewelry, including the owner of the jewelry store, who is deranged, uses swear words and lets himself be persuaded to surrender his pistol, which MacGyver then for a few seconds - similar a threat with a gun - holds in his hand.

MacGyver's friend Maria wants MacGyver to finally enter into a committed relationship with her. But when he decides to talk about it, two other of his friends show up and screw up the romance. This is too much for him and he goes to sleep. He dreams of himself in the Wild West . Several women who are very similar to the real women of today are badly treated by gangsters in the wild west town of Serenity and are to be sold. There are several typical Wild West scenes, with shootings, poker games, wild gallops and crooks who kill each other. MacGyver, who doesn't even carry a weapon in the Wild West, has to pull his neck out of the noose several times - once literally.

MacGyver ends up in a demonstration of vineyard workers fighting to get employment contracts following a car failure, accusing the winegrower of using illegal pesticides that are harmful to their health. Tony Garcia, a leader of the protest, disappears and was likely murdered. The police cannot do anything for lack of evidence. MacGyver and a relative of Tony search for Tony and discover that the winemaker's son is illegally spraying growth accelerators. They escape a silo that is used to kill them. Eventually they can have the guilty arrested.

With a broken car, MacGyver witnesses a light spectacle behind which a UFO is suspected. In exchange for their entire fortune, a couple offers a poor family who believes in God a trip to a planet where there should be neither poverty nor disease. MacGyver exposes the couple as a cheat, but cannot convince the family, although he now even knows how the light is generated. After the showdown, in which MacGyver receives mysterious help from a sales representative in overcoming the deceivers, a new, UFO-like light appears in the sky.

A group of crooks has valuable baseball trading cards stolen in order to reproduce them and make a profit with them. After a collection is stolen from Mama Colton, MacGyver determines the culprit. Wendy Riley, the daughter of the well-known baseball player Novis Riley, from whom the gangsters extort a collection of cards because of his gambling debts, helps him. After Wendy is kidnapped by the gangsters to blackmail Novis, MacGyver is able to free the Rileys and prevent the gangsters from escaping. The episode ends appropriately with a ball perfectly struck by Novis, which stops the main culprit.

MacGyver represents the Phoenix Foundation organizationally at an international ice hockey tournament. Ellen, the wife of tournament director Ralph Jerico and also a former high school friend of MacGyver, begins a love affair with MacGyver without him knowing about their marriage. A killer secretly commissioned by Ellen murders shortly afterwards in MacGyver's form Ralph Jerico and is recognized by the Russian ice hockey player Nicolai. MacGyver and Nicolai escape separately, but fall into the trap of Ellen and the hit man, who both want to murder in a stove. Ellen's motivation is to retaliate against MacGyver for their failed romantic relationships. MacGyver prevents him and Nicolai from dying, and then overpowers Ellen and the killer.

Major investor Andrew Bartlett is planning to build a small town despite major concerns from the Phoenix Foundation, whose environmental report - in contrast to Bartlett's report - advises against building it. He instructs his children, Scott and Laura, to be the successors of the company management, to get rid of MacGyver as Phoenix representatives. Scott also wants to get rid of Andrew in order to be more likely to become company boss, and uses a bomb on MacGyver's car, which explodes while MacGyver and Andrews are driving through the Wasteland, with Andrew being seriously injured. MacGyver can use the Wasteland, which is biologically dead through a similar urban development program, to illustrate the consequences of his plan for Andrew. Scott and Laura follow to the scene of the accident to see if they are dead. MacGyver uses a self-made propeller plane to save Andrew from being shot by Scott after he shot Laura in an argument. Finally Andrew agrees to look for another site for the city.

MacGyver supports the search of the archaeologist Prof. Axford and his daughter Beth Webb for the grave of Alexander the Great , where the so-called Eye of Osiris is believed to be in a Turkish mountain range . Beth is secretly blackmailed by the criminal from Leer and therefore passes on information about the search to him. By combining various research and search results, MacGyver pinpoints the location of the grave. There he, Webb, Axford and von Leer are locked in the grave complex. At the grave they discover the eye of Osiris, who is a giant sapphire and - with the exception of the too greedy von Leer - gives them a way out of the tomb.

MacGyver helps ex-biker Earl Dent, who has just been released from jail, with parole terms. Dent's old biker friends rob him of his new job and blackmail him into helping them dig out a drug warehouse, the location of which only Dent knows. MacGyver goes undercover as a biker in the biker group to bring Dent back. Before the drugs and money are removed from the camp, MacGyver and Dent are exposed by his probation officer Montana and imprisoned with her. MacGyver frees himself and the two of them and overpowers the fleeing group leader.

MacGyver's friend, Pastor Jim, who campaigns for the homeless, is so badly injured in a robbery that he dies shortly afterwards, but not without giving MacGyver a tip that leads him to an eyewitness to the robbery. MacGyver investigates undercover in the homeless community that the homeless Danny, who no longer speaks, observed the attack. With the homeless Doc, he finds out that Jim was on the verge of uncovering the guilt of the businessman Sandler, who one after the other is ruining homeless shelters for his own profit. MacGyver eventually prevents him and Danny from being murdered by Sandler.

In a Latin American country, Pete's ex-wife Samantha Lora is running for the presidency. Your political opponents want to prevent the Phoenix Foundation from publishing a video of atrocities committed against civilians in the country. To do this, they prevent the video from being passed on by murdering the courier. After Samantha arrives in the USA and at Pete's, MacGyver has the replacement courier give him the video before he is shot by political opponents. They are supported by the US Police Commissioner Stams and kidnap MacGyver, Pete and Samantha. The three can thwart their murder and arrest Stams and his accomplices. Pete MacGyver had previously announced that his eyesight was severely impaired due to glaucoma.

On the move in the forest, MacGyver taps one leg into a bear trap. The elderly Lacey sisters nurse him to health in their bed and breakfast. Meanwhile, MacGyver notices from the window regular guest house Leo Burns, who was tortured and accidentally murdered by Mafia members after he did not give them the million dollars he had withheld. Since Leo had hidden the money and the gangsters cannot find it, they claim it from the sisters. They barricade themselves with MacGyver in front of the gangsters in the pension. After the last remaining gangster rammed the building with his car, entered and was overpowered by the three, the money is found by chance.

To make money, Murdoc wants to work for HIT again. That's why he accepts the order from HIT to finally kill MacGyver. He temporarily loses his memory in the explosion that Murdoc caused with a bazooka and finds refuge in a remote holiday resort where only a mother and her daughter live at the moment. Murdoc cuts the phone lines so that an emergency call is not possible and takes the mother hostage in order to lure MacGyver into a disused mine. There MacGyver succeeds in overcoming the obstacle set by Murdoc as a deadly trap and in saving his mother from death. Murdoc falls down an elevator shaft without being found by the police.

The electricity company NPE wants to build a power line near an Indian area. The Indian attorney Whitecloud, supported by the Phoenix Foundation, is taking legal action against NPE because he sees the area at risk; however, he loses the process. He is not satisfied with that. To prevent him from further investigations, some of the NPE executives charge him with a murder, in which MacGyver is shot. Like Whitecloud before, MacGyver triggered a vision of the Indian Standing Wolf, through which he came to the realization that the maps on which the court proceedings were based were forged and that the power line should therefore not be built as planned. With this knowledge, MacGyver succeeds in preventing Whitecloud from blowing up an NPE power plant.

Pete is in the hospital awaiting eye surgery for the glaucoma. He didn't inform MacGyver because he felt uncomfortable. MacGyver and later Pete's ex-wife find out and visit Pete. Pete and MacGyver remember past adventures.
