Band history

Her debut single X-Ray was released on November 28, 2005 and was then played on London radio XFM . Greater success came with the release of their second single Latchmere six months later in April 2006, which was broadcast on both the radio and MTV . The video, produced by Hugh Frost and Samuel Bebbington, also became a hit online on the YouTube video platform .

In mid-2006, the band received positive reviews from the British music magazine NME, including a review of their performance in London's Cafe dé Paris, where they were named the best new band in the country. In November 2006, the band toured with Fields, ¡Forward, Russia !, and Wolfmother as part of the MTV Two Spanking New Music Tour. Drummer Robert Dylan Thomas was temporarily replaced during the tour by Elliot Andrews (who now works for Kate Nash), who accompanied the tour until spring 2007, due to a wrist injury.

The band released their debut album Color It In in May 2007. Before the band's physical recordings were released on May 14th, their album was already available exclusively from iTunes as a download on April 17th on the Internet. The single First Love was her first chart success in the UK Top 40, followed by About Your Dress , which took top 33 position. Her album itself, which received positive reviews from the press, reached number 24 in the charts. In 2007 they toured the US with the indie group Bloc Party . At the height of their UK tour in October 2007, after a successful year, they played in front of a sold out house at the London Roundhouse (audience capacity: 3000).

The album Wall of Arms was supplemented by four more titles and released again in 2010, including a new version of No Kind Words , which was created as Empty Vessels with the participation of Roots Manuva .

The third album Given to the Wild was released on January 9, 2012.

The fourth album Marks to Prove It was released in July 2015 and reached number 1 in the UK charts.

In August 2016, The Maccabees announced on their homepage that after 14 years as a band, the day of separation had come. Farewell concerts have been announced for 2017.
