The Macchi M.39 was an Italian seaplane built to participate in the Schneider Trophy in 1926.

history

The 1926 competition was held in Hampton Roads , Virginia , USA . Three Macchi M.39 took part. One had to give up in the fourth round, the other two took first and third place. The pilot Mario de Bernardi achieved an average speed of 396.69 km / h with the winning machine.

construction

It was a single-seater with two floats that was developed by the Macchi designer, Mario Castoldi .
