The Macdonald Cove is a bay on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located 4 km south-southeast of the Welcome Islands on the west bank of the peninsula that ends in Cape Buller . Significant fossils have been discovered on its own bank .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1982 after the geologist David Ian McPherson Macdonald (* 1953) who led the work of the British Antarctic Survey in this area between 1975 and 1977 in two summer campaigns.
