The Welcome Islands ( English for welcome Islands ) are a group of rocky islands off the north coast of South Georgia . They are 6 km west-northwest of Cape Buller . These include, in north-south order, the High Rock , Sigma Island , Dorada Island , Pharos Island and, separated from the rest by the Whalers Passage , the Sky Rock .
The British navigator James Cook is considered to have discovered it in 1755. The naming of the islands dates back to at least 1912 and has been established ever since.
