The Maclaren River is a 89 km long left tributary of the Susitna River in southern Alaska .
It rises from the Maclaren Glacier in the Clearwater Mountains , a mountain range in the eastern part of the Alaska range . The Maclaren River initially flows south. It takes up the West Fork Maclaren River on the right. The Denali Highway ( Alaska Route 8 ) crosses the Maclaren River 3 miles further south. The Maclaren River continues to flow south, then turns west-southwest and eventually joins the Susitna River.
