Macon Transportes Ltda. is a transportation company based in Belas in Greater Luanda , Angola . It operates inner-city bus transport in Luanda, 64 inter-provincial routes, two international routes and freight transport by truck. The company transports an average of 58 million passengers a year.

history

The company was founded in 2001 by Valdomiro Minoru Dondo , a Brazilian of Japanese descent who came to Angola in 1985. He first tested the market in Luanda with a few used buses and then built an inner-city bus network in the capital with a fleet of 25 buses. Inter-provincial routes followed successively to all 18 provinces of Angola . In May 2015, Macon opened the largest bus station in the country in Luanda with an area of ​​10,000 m², of which 4,600 m² were built on, and a daily capacity of 7,000 passengers. In October 2018 the first international connection from Luanda to Windhoek and Katima Mulilo in Namibia was introduced. The second international connection to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo followed in March 2019 .

In March 2018, the company owned a fleet of 727 buses and trucks, and in March 2019 another 55 buses from China were added for 6.5 million US dollars. The average age of the fleet is three years.
