Madame is a Swiss documentary film by Stéphane Riethauser from 2019.

content

The film tells the story of Caroline and her relationship with her grandson - and director of the film - Stéphane Riethauser. With the help of archive material, Riethauser reconstructs the impressive career of his grandmother, who grew up in the Geneva bourgeoisie and always had to oppose bourgeois moral standards. The film also shows sensitively how Riethauser was confronted with his homosexuality in a similar way with conservative views, and to what extent this influenced his relationship with his grandmother.
