Madeth gray'll were a visual kei indie band under the Matina label that formed in August 1997.

Madeth gray'll's music varies from fast metal and black metal influences to orchestral Gothic Metal songs, bizarre and monotonous pieces are represented as well as quieter ballads. Then there is the singing, which is partly very melodic, but partly also very screeching.

Band history

In 1997 Madeth gray'll was founded by Kei (singer), Yukina (bass) and Shizuru (guitar). Shizuru previously played with Kei in the band Vierge and Yukina in L ~ CYFER . After a short time, guitarist Hizumi (ex. Vie éternele ) and drummer Tsubaki joined them and the band released four demo tapes limited to 300 pieces.

In early 1998, shortly after the band was founded, they were accepted into Kisaki (musician) 's label ( Matina ). One of their songs appeared on the first Matina sampler and also as a PV on a video tape of the label. In March of that year they released three demo tapes in one week, followed by another on April 4th.

On May 7, 1998, Hizumi died as a result of a car accident. He was on his way to the funeral of X Japan's guitarist hide . Shizuru and Tsubaki then left the band.

Madeth gray'll (at that time only Kei and Yukina) did not split up, but continued with a new guitarist Ukyou (ex. オ ル ゴ ー ル ) and without a drummer. They released a single for a song that Hizumi had written before his death ( Hakuchuumu no Sangeki , daydream tragedy ).

In August 1998 Madeth gray'll released her first maxi single Juujika no Ketsumatsu ( end of the cross ), which had a total of three editions, on each of which three songs alternated. Kei changed his name to Hisui.

In 1999 Madeth gray'll found a second guitarist, Izumi (ex. Distray ), and recorded the single MOTHER COMPLEX with him . At the end of the year there were some changes in the line-up as Ukyou left the band and Reika came on as drummer.

In 2000 the band released their first album, Lucifer , which included 10 completely new tracks. The quality of the recordings was now better than at the beginning of their band history and the style of the album, which changed from song to song between hard metal sounds and orchestral sounds, cast a spell over many fans. Madeth gray'll were probably the best known Matina band at the time.

At the end of the year there was the last line-up change: Airi came as the second guitarist. In November the band released the single Norowareshi Hana no Seimei ( Eng. Enchanted Life of the Flower ) and the mini-album Boukai no Mato ~ Entith de marge ~ ( Eng . Demon City in the Realm of Death ) with six tracks.

In early 2001, Madeth gray'll parted ways as bassist Yukina, the last founding member next to Hisui, decided to leave the band. On January 31st the last album Higeki no Shuumaku ( Eng . End of Tragedy ) was released, a best of with 14 of their old songs.

The ex-band members of Madeth gray'll switched to various new bands: Hisui first sang for JELLY BERRY and later founded Schwardix Marvally , Airi switched to Crack brain and then also joined Schwardix Marvally , but has since retired from the music business. Yukina now plays and sings with Qy Brille and Reika switched to DOREMI-dan .
