The Madison Terrace is a 50 sq km (10 km long and 5 km wide) great and icy plateau in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . On the Shackleton coast , it joins the southern part of Mount Madison . The effluent from this mountain of ice flow through the plateau and end in the form of glacial fractures in the Couzens Bay .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the terrace in 2003 based on the name of the mountain of the same name. Its namesake is Lieutenant Commander Douglas W. Madison, assistant to the commander of the United States Navy support units in Antarctica from 1961 to 1962 and in charge of public relations from 1963 to 1964.
