Leni Lohmar

Magdalena "Leni" Lohmar , after marriage to Leni Henze , (born October 19, 1914 - December 31, 2006 in Witten ) was a German swimmer who won a medal at the 1936 Olympic Games .

Leni Lohmar swam for the Swimming and Sportfreunde Bonn in 1905 . At the Olympic Games in 1936, she competed in the 100 meter freestyle and was eliminated in the preliminary run. The freestyle relay with Ruth Halbsguth , Leni Lohmar, Ingeborg Schmitz and Gisela Arendt won silver behind the Dutch women. Leni Lohmar was the first member of the Swimming Friends in Bonn to win an Olympic medal.

Leni Lohmar married her trainer Hermann Henze. After the Second World War, Gisela Jacob-Arendt moved to Bonn and together with Ruth Henschel and Gerda Fessler-Hoßfeldt, Leni Henze and Gisela Jacob won the German championship four times with the freestyle relay from 1949 to 1952.

After her career, Leni Henze was a swimming instructor at SSF Bonn. After 50 years of membership in her association, she was made an honorary member of the association in 1979.
