Maglite
Maglite (proper spelling MAGLITE even MAGLITE ) is a manufacturer of battery-powered wand flashlights from aluminum , as police -Ausrüstungsgegenstände in the United States become known and often used in movies are seen. construction
A Maglite is made of a aluminum housing made obtained by O-rings splash-proof and with a corrosion-proof switch is provided. The reflector in the front part of the lamp can be continuously adjusted from point to flood light.
Since the inner radius of the adjustable front part of the MiniMag corresponds to the outer radius of the aluminum tube, the unscrewed front part can be used as a stand for a kind of lantern.
Krypton- filled halogen bulbs are used as light sources , with the larger models with baby and mono cells optionally also lighter xenon -filled ones with the brand name Magnum-Star .
There are also special 3-watt light-emitting diode inserts , which were also available in Europe from 2006 to 2010. The light cone can still be focused after the conversion. These lamps were factory-fitted and offered as Mag LED . Second generation LED models with optimized light output are now available, in which a new LED module is permanently integrated and can no longer be exchanged for a conventional filament lamp.
All bulb models and those with the retrofit LED module are supplied with a spare bulb in the end cap, which is protected by a foam insert.
application
In many countries, including the USA , Germany and France , these flashlights are part of the basic equipment, especially for police forces . Maglites are usually handled at the front end and held with the rear end on the shoulder; As a result, the wearer sees fewer shadows, hides his or her own line of sight and is in a more favorable defensive position, since the lamp can be used as a striking weapon if necessary .
On March 30, 2007, however, the Los Angeles Police Department announced that from now on a smaller and brighter flashlight specially adapted to the needs of the LAPD would be used, which cannot be used as a cutting weapon. Maglite flashlights are also often used by fire and rescue services, but they do not meet all safety standards because they are not explosion-proof.

Upgrade modules to LED were offered for the sizes 2–4 × C- and D-Cell (status 12/2010: only available as remaining stock). LED lamps are now available for all Maglites, some from other manufacturers. The light output is in the middle range; the latest LED generations achieve a higher light output with the same electrical power consumption.
The incandescent lamps of the 2-C and D-Cell versions are of the following type: 2.4 ... 2.6 V / 0.7 ... 0.8 A / socket: P 13.5 s / glass bulb in olive shape, Filling gas: krypton or xenon (lighter). The Mini Maglite models use special, unsocketed light bulbs.
