Magnetic Fields (in France Les Chants Magnétiques , a play on words with chant (French for song) and champ (French for field).) Is the fifth music album by French musician and producer Jean Michel Jarre . Released in 1981 Magnetic Fields was one of the first albums worldwide to use digital samples. This technique was in contrast to his previous albums Oxygène and Équinoxe and was in the eyes of some critics a break in style . The album is rated as similarly melodic as Oxygéne, but not as creative.
