Magnus Sten Gustaf Florin (born August 3, 1955 in Uppsala ) is a Swedish writer , director and dramaturge .

Life

Florin made his debut as a writer in 1978 with "Blå blousen - Arbetertheater in the 30s" (together with Henrik Bramsjö). From 1980 to 1990 he was dramaturge at the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm , between 2000 and 2006 he was head of the radio theater at Sveriges Radio and then its dramaturge. In 2009 he returned to the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm and became chief dramaturge there.

His fiction debut appeared in 1989 with the short prose collection "Berättelsens gång", followed by "Tror du på denna historia?" (1992). Florin's first novel "Trädgården" ( The Garden ), which followed three years later , was nominated in the year of publication for the August Prize , Sweden's highest literary prize, and staged as an opera at Drottningholmstheater with music by Jonas Forssell and the libretto by Leif Janzon . The second novel "Syskonen" (1998, Die Geschwister ), and "Rändera" ( The Edges ), Florin's fifth novel from 2010, was also nominated for the August Prize and the Swedish Radio Novel Prize August Prize as well as nominated for the Sveriges Radio Novel Prize. In 2006 he received the Aniara Prize from the Swedish Librarians' Association for his complete works . He was suggested by literary critics for membership in the Swedish Academy of Sciences .

In 2009 he wrote the libretto for Daniel Börtz 'opera "Goya", in 2011 Florin's own opera "Hemligheter" (via Emanuel Swedenborg ) premiered at the Gothenburg Opera with the original libretto by Florin and the music by Jonas Forssell.

In 2013 the German translation of the first novel Trädgården was published under the title Der Garten , and in 2014 the German translation of Cirkulation was published under the title Circulation .
