Magnus Fryklund

Magnus Fryklund (born 1990 in Karlstad ) is a Swedish pianist  and conductor .

life and work

Fryklund appears as a soloist and chamber musician at concerts in Sweden, Denmark and Germany with Musica Vitae and the Athelas Ensemble, among others. He studied at the Royal Danish Conservatory and graduated in June 2017. During his student days he already directed the Concerto Copenhagen , the Sjællands Symphony Orchestra and the symphony orchestras of Odense, Aarhus and Aalborg. From 2017 to 2019 he is Young Conductor in Residence with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra .

He gained his first experience as an opera conductor at the Conservatory, where he directed Leoš Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen and Maurice Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges . He also conducted opera at the Copenhagen Opera Festival , in Dalhalla and at the Malmö Opera - the romantic number opera Lakmé by the French composer Léo Delibes in all locations . In Malmö he had previously directed The Marriage of Figaro . He was there on the podium for the following productions from the 2017 to 2018 season: Fiddler on the Roof , Hansel and Gretel , Rigoletto . At the beginning of the 2018–19 season he took over the musical direction of the West Side Story from Leonard Bernstein in Malmö , staged by Kasper Holten .
