Egon Denu

Egon Denu (* 1932 ; † August 11, 2018 ) was a German jazz musician ( trombone , trumpet , composition ).

In 1956, Eugen Denu was a member of the German All Stars 1956 (with Albert and Emil Mangelsdorff , Hans Koller , Helmut Brandt , Bill Grah , Horst Jankowski , Attila Zoller , Johnny Fischer , Karl Sanner ), with whom he appeared at a SWF session. During this time he also directed the Egon Denu Combo ; In 1958 he played the Concertino in F with Wolfgang Lauth's septet . He was active in the Mannheim music scene for many years . In 1962 he performed at the German Jazz Festival with Hans Laib's sextet ; in the same year he also played in Werner Pöhlert's quartet with Fritz Münzer . He had been at home in Copenhagen since 1971. In 1984 he had a formation that he led with the tenor saxophonist Arne Astrup and recorded an album in Karlsruhe. In 1986, he was as guest soloist on the album After Midnight from Extra Dry involved in 1987 on the album Poor Little Miss Otis: One More Time by Freddy Albeck with the sextet of John Astrup. Further recordings were made in 1989 with a quintet he had formed with Bent Jædig and which included Poul Erik Christensen (piano), Jesper Lundgaard and Alex Riel . In the field of jazz he was involved in seven recording sessions between 1956 and 1999, most recently with the guitarist Ole Bram. Denu also wrote jazz compositions like "Cool Doodle".
