Works

God doesn't need heroes

His best-known work God doesn't need heroes appeared in 1997 in German. In it he showed that narcissism , as already described by Christopher Lasch in 1979, is also widespread among Christians and Christian leaders. Such persons have a dissolved and insecure ego, which is why they have to be so fixated on themselves. They pay more attention to image and appearance than to substance and reality, they are dependent on the applause of others and their goal is above all their own satisfaction. On the other hand, as a beloved of God, one reflects his love and receives from him a stable identity and can serve other people without a purpose. The main task of a pastor is not to preach, but to listen to the word of God. That is why regular times of listening, quiet and calm are so important. God wants from us primarily love, loyalty and honesty and not performance and success, because ultimately he and not we are responsible for the results.

Publications

Malm has written several books, some of which have also been translated into German, in which he reflected on his life and beliefs and made them usable for others.
