Christopher Lasch
Christopher Lasch (born June 1, 1932 in Omaha , Nebraska , † February 14, 1994 in Pittsford , New York) was a well-known American historian and social critic .
Live and act
Lasch studied at Harvard University and Columbia University . He was a member of the history faculty at Williams College from 1957 to 1967, from 1960 to 1961 at Roosevelt University in Chicago, from 1961 to 1966 at the University of Iowa and from 1966 to 1970 at Northwestern University . From 1970 to 1994 he taught as a professor of history at the University of Rochester . During this time he held the Don Alonzo Professorship in History from 1979 to 1994 , and he was Faculty Head from 1985 to 1994. In 1981 he was a Freud Lecturer at University College London .
He became known to a German-speaking audience especially with his book on narcissism in today's society ( The culture of narcissism , 1979).
Private
In 1956 he married Nell Commager, with whom he had two sons and two daughters.
