Mahmud Makki

Mahmud Mahmud Mohamed Makki ( Arabic محمود محمود محمد مكي, DMG Maḥmūd Maḥmūd Muḥammad Makkī ; * 1954 ) has been Vice President of Egypt since August 12, 2012 ; he was appointed by the Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi .

Mahmud Makki is a Sunni Muslim and the brother of the Minister of Justice in the government of Hescham Kandil . Makki had made a name for himself in his judicial office together with Hischam Bastawisi as a critic of the system of the long-term president Husni Mubarak, who was disempowered in 2011, and his Justice Minister Mahmud Abul Leil .

From January 29, 2011 to February 11, 2011, the office of Egyptian Vice-President Omar Suleiman held after the former Egyptian President Husni Mubarak was forced to appoint a Vice-President for the first time since taking office under the pressure of public protests.
