Mahmut Tanal (born January 1, 1961 in Bahçecik , Hilvan , Şanlıurfa ) is a Turkish lawyer and politician of the Kemalist Republican People's Party (CHP).

Life

Tanal goes to primary school in Dicle . He graduated from high school in Urfa. From 1982 to 1986 he studied at the Faculty of Law at Istanbul University . 2005-2006 he participated in the program Siyaset Okulu of Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi and 2009 on the same program of Okan Üniversitesi part.

From 2006 to 2008 and from 2010 to 2012 he was delegate of the Istanbul Bar Association for the national bar association Türkiye Barolar Birliği . He is a member of the Turkish Association for Criminal Law and a substitute member of the Board of the Association for Consumer Protection.

For the CHP he is a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey .

He is married and has two children.

Tanal, who speaks German, is one of six members of a commission that was sent by the Grand National Assembly in 2013 to observe the NSU process because a. the charges of murder and complicity in the murder of eight people of Turkish origin are being tried.

Tanal publicly criticized the fact that a cross was hung in the courtroom because religious symbols do not belong in a constitutional state and the cross is a threat to non-Christians.
