The economic basis of the village is agriculture and viticulture, which is known for its "Küp-Şarabı". According to tradition, wine was grown in the region in Byzantine times and this was pressed in clay vessels . This method was rediscovered in the 1950s and after a few years of experimentation it was possible to press wine in clay jugs. The first Küp wine cellar was in Mahmutgazi.
