The Maiden Castle (English for Jungfrauenburg ) is a striking rock formation in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Allan Hills , it towers east of Halle Flat .
It was explored in 1964 by a team working in the Allan Hills as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program . She named it after Maiden Castle , a hill fort in the English county of Dorset .
