Maikon Fernando Souza Leite (born August 3, 1988 in Mogi das Cruzes , Brazil ) is a Brazilian soccer player who is under contract with Palmeiras São Paulo . He plays as a right winger or as a striker . At Palmeiras, his contract runs until June 23, 2016.

Career

Maikon Leite began his football career in 2006 at EC Santo André . In June 2008 he moved to FC Santos , where he soon proved himself to be a good scorer. But on August 17, 2008 he suffered a severe ligament injury in his right knee during a game against Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . He then had to take an eight-month break and was only able to play against Palmeiras on April 18, 2009 . Two games later, on June 21 against Atlético Mineiro , Leite injured his right knee again and stayed out until January 2010. In May 2010 he was loaned to Athletico Paranaense . On January 9, 2011 he signed a preliminary contract with Palmeiras, on June 30, he played for the club for the first time and already scored a goal against Atlético Goianiense .
