maintower is the tabloid magazine in the television program of Hessischer Rundfunk ( hr-fernsehen ). The editions from Monday to Friday deliver 25 minutes of tabloid topics at 6 p.m. with a focus on crime and accidents as well as other police and fire services in and around Hesse.

The program was broadcast from the Main Tower in Frankfurt am Main until 2015 (from the “highest television studio in Europe”). Since the termination of the lease for cost reasons in autumn 2015, the program has been broadcast from TV studio 5 of the Hessischer Rundfunk in the Funkhaus am Dornbusch in Frankfurt-Nordend . A rather elaborate virtual studio set with a 3D skyline of Frankfurt reproduced on the computer is used.

Issues and moderators

The main moderators of maintower are Susann Atwell , Marvin Fischer and Sonya Kraus . Peter Alexander Rothkranz is reporter and co-presenter of the show. In addition to the main edition, there is also the maintower weekend edition on Saturdays, which gives a half-hour review of the topics of the week.

Since 2016 there has been another format in the series of maintower programs: maintower kriminalreport . This broadcast replaces the previous crime report Hesse and reports on unexplained criminal cases and asks viewers to help solve them. A police officer is usually also a guest in the studio to present details about the cases in conversation with the moderator. This program is moderated by Robert Huebner .
