Vaik made his poetry debut at the end of the 20th century, but did not publish his first independent book until 2012. This first volume of his poetry was hailed as a “debut that has been waited for twenty years”, especially since his texts had been on everyone's lips for decades due to the popularity of his rock music.

After that, however, Vaik switched to prose, for which he has received several awards and has been compared with Jaan Oks , Aleksis Kivi , Anton Hansen Tammsaare or Anatole France , Thomas Mann and Fyodor Michailowitsch Dostoevsky .
